Not getting what you want!

As a retired person one thing I had looked forward to was sleeping late. But no!!!! The powers that be try their best to keep me from doing that. This week the city is fixing a leak in my yard so I had to get up and fill containers with water to cook with because my water is cut off. Then I had to move my car. And the really crazy thing is that the leak is not even to our house but to the apartments behind our house. I am being punished for the work done for someone. Then the next day I had to get up to go to the doctor for my regular yearly check-up. Also my husband who is an early riser loves the light and the light wakes me. There are no curtians in our room just blinds that let the light in. He is sweet in that he does not open the blinds which I know he would love to. I do not sleep well after the sun comes up. Just more stuff!!!!!

Another thing that I have not been able to do much of is read. I love to read fiction but when you are working it is hard to find the time to read. Well of course, it could be because I have to finish the book before I will put it down. I read an entire book in one sitting. Nothing else happens because I want to know how the books end. Does not matter if it is a good book or a bad book. I have to finish it or I will not sleep wondering if how I figure it will end is the way it ends. Crazy but me. When I read Gone with the Wind, I finally went to bed at 4 AM and got up the next morning and finished the book. I used to read only those REader Digest Condensed books so that I could finish them in one reading. My sister in law brougth me 10 books and I had them all read in 2 weeks. She brought me 20 but I have not read but one book so far because I knew I needed to work on the house and if I started I would not finish---the house work that is. The reading I would do.

I have always been amazed at how things seem to happen. For instance several years ago I went to a convention in San Antonio, Texas. The first place we ate was at an Olive Garden. I had never heard of Olive Garden much less visited one. After I got home the first Advertisement I saw on TV was for Olive Garden opeining in Memphis. Then at another convention the speaker talked about a rare disease she had called Fibromyalgia which I had never heard of. When I got home our choir director's wife who had been sick had been diagnosed with this same disease. Just to prove my point, one of the books that my sisiter in law gave me was christian novel set in the old west. The couple were living in Montana and her brother was leading a hunting group with Teddy Roosevelt in the "Couer d'Alene" mountian area. I had never heard of that place before my son a while back went to visit it to see about a job there which he took. Coincidence maybe but strange. At least I think it is strange.

Hey mom, I think you you should start writing down old family stories. You know, the ones that get repeated every Christmas. Then family members could comment "That's not how I remember it" or whatever. I think that would be fun. We could see how many different versions of the Flaming Fish Cooker story we could come up with. If there are parts you don't remember we could all make additions or subtractions.

Just an idea.
